Niamh Mahon

Niamh Mahon

Research scientist

Niamh is is an environmental social scientist working in the Social, Economic and Geographical Sciences department at the James Hutton Institute, Aberdeen. She is currently working on a series of projects related to farm animal health and welfare with a focus on livestock disease, as well as a project exploring the impact of rural digitalisation on small farms. This work is funded by the Scottish government, UK Research Councils, and the EU, amongst others. Prior to joining the James Hutton Institute Niamh worked on ‘FIELD’, an multi-institutional, interdisciplinary project investigating the sustainable reduction of endemic livestock disease in northern England funded by the Wellcome Trust.
