Douglas joined IGS in 2015, originally to project manage the development and construction of the company’s first vertical farming facility at Invergowrie, near Dundee. To support IGS’ transition from a research project into a commercial business, Douglas adopted the role of Product Manager, responsible for overseeing all product development from idea to launch ensuring market demands are met and IGS remain competitive.
In his present role as Head of Vertical Farming Solutions, Douglas is works closely with IGS’ customers and commercial prospects to draw a line between the challenges they are experiencing and the most appropriate technology solutions from IGS.
Douglas has a Masters degree in Mining Geology. Following a brief spell in the quarrying sector, he began a career as a Geologist in onshore oil and gas. His focus was on unconventional resources in the UK and Poland for seven years. He was part of the team that achieved the first commercial unconventional gas flowrate in Europe, also managing the company’s Belgian assets. This background offered a strong foundation in Project Management, Science, Engineering, Energy and Economics which Douglas has used and built upon during his time at IGS.
